A little moment of everyday magic to me can be getting up early like I did this morning – making myself a latté in a latté bowl with the words “stay playful” on it - and then looking at this little still life of vases and the little mermaid on a pink stone.
I had to write a few texts for our High Winter catalogue – with candles and Sade’s greatest hits in the background I am ready for a good day.
Todays blogger is the lovely Kristina who is our sales rep in Sweden – we always love it when she visits rice in Odense – she has this bubbly sweet aura about her, and the customers she brings along are always really sweet positive and enthusiastic people. Following her on facebook always puts a smile on my face. Look for tuffakristinajensen.
I remember a day that I had many years back that really was a happy turning point.
It was a concert that woke the power of happiness in me.
I felt bubbly inside and I could feel the joy. Music wakes that feeling for me.
Every time I put it on it gives me a rush inside of joy, crazy happiness and I feel free.
A secret dream of mine was to become a world famous singer and dancer. (To tell U the truth, I’m the worst singer and have no idea how to dance)
How could I possible know that I a few years later, again, would have turned my own world around?
This time the turning point was my new job. I love my job, my life .I work as an sales representive in Sweden. I do a lot of travelling to different cities. Every time I start my car in in the morning for a long drive far away from home I put some music on and boom. That rushing feeling of happiness I experienced during the concert and the joy of what I do fills me.
Or when I stand on a fair and meet all the lovely people who love the same things I do and I feel I can Inspire and give them the joy of the colorful world I work in. Cos I truly love what I do and want to share it. My job is a big part of my life and im blessed by doing something that I truly want to do.
I don’t think we should keep our joy, passion and love to ourselves, spread the color, love and joy too everyone around U. It´s magic, things will happened. I truly believe anyone can succeed if we start by choosing Happiness, Love and positive thinking.
And dare to share it
I love being around my colleges and all lovely people I meet in my work every day. Feels like I am a famous singer and dancer every day with the everyday magic of Rice.
Love and kisses K
Celebrate a happy life is something everybody is trying! And to me the people at Rice know exactly how to do it! Let me tell you some of my impressions. Imagine, you fly to Denmark, take the train to Odense and find yourself a little light blue Fiat 500 waiting for you. And this little Fiat takes you to the Rice headquarters: a beautiful old white building with pink floors ( yes even in the distribution center) near the river. Some pink gnomes are welcoming you with a big smile. When you enter the building, you’ll be surrounded by the Rice vibes immediately. The office is very colourful and decorated with bright Rice prints. The desks are glossy light blue and almost on every desk there is a candle burning, which give you a very cosy and homey feeling. Behind the desks are smiling Danish people working Wonderful, friendly and open people, who are interested and really enjoy it to work at Rice. They start early, so around 10 they make themselves a nice cup of tea or coffee accompanied with a little sandwich or homemade cookie. When there is an order above a certain amount you will hear a bell ringing loud and clear, followed up by some happy cheers. YEAH! Everybody is working hard so it’s good to celebrate these moments, it shows you the results of your hard work! At lunch time the colourful fridges open up and show you the most delicious Danish products. Yummie smorrebrod, creamcheese, tomatoes, cucumber, egg, shrimps or homemade tasteful left overs. Lunch in Denmark is as if you are in a very good lunchroom. Every day again. Just pamper yourself a little more, it doesn’t cost you more time. Ok, around 3 o’clock you’ll eat some nice fresh fruits or a cupcake, always a surprise and around 4 it’s time to live, together with friends and family. Beautiful dinners are served, fresh and healthy, with lot’s of veggies, fish and colours. You probably can imagine that I always feel so inspired and happy when I am there! It’s all about loving life, your loved ones and yourself, the things you do and to try to make the best of it every day: celebrate life it is!
Lazy saturday – our house is full of people who have stayed the night -9 guests all together. We have just been blessed with some very rare and amazingly beautiful summerdays. Sailing, swimming, laughing. Lots of beautiful wine and food.
I am in the middle of book writing, my next big deadline is August 6th – so today I need to focus on the writing and remove myself from the guests and the action for some hours. But I am just sneaking in a little blog post about seizing the moment – CARPE DIEM – or CARPE THAT Fxxking DIEM…..
WIth a house full of old friends and family I chose to say fxxk it for a few days and just hang out and enjoy the sun and the people. I really enjoy writing and the whole process of it – but it is also a bit of a juggle when you have your normal job, a house full of summerguests and lots of other temptations on the side.
The book is about happy homes and living colorfully – so I guess I am just living what I am preaching. These past few days have been full of everyday magic moments. I am not saying that my life is perfect – there are lots of things to worry about if I choose to, big things…. enough to write looooonnggg posts about – but I try to focus on the positive moments – the friends the family the sunny days.
Something rare happens in Denmark when the weather is sunny and warm – people loosen up – become more sociable, invite each other more easily – we love this… It is vey danish to be organized and live in quite a closed mindset of – OH NO – we can’t do that because we need to unpack our suitcases – OH NO we cannot come and be spontaneous because we have to bla bla bla….. – but the sun and the warm weather kicks people a little bit out of that habit of perfection – and it suits us all….
And now – I will zap out for a few hours and focus on writing……… I can hear everyone laughing and playing int he garden…….. Give me strength to seize the moment to write for a few hours and then CARPE DIEM AAAAGGGGGAAIIIINNNNNNN……..

During the last 3 years I have been doing small trips with the street kids project LAKSHYA. My reason for making the trips is that the organization can only afford a simple living in the part of Delhi called Old Faridabad. They do not have the possibility to fund trips to make good experiences for the kids. In the West we have so much and in India there is high degree of poverty. So why not share a bit of what we have with them? “No one can help everyone but everyone can help someone”
My first vision was to invite the group to see Taj Mahal. In my opinion there is nothing as “Indian” as Taj Mahal. It has an amazing history and it is wonderful to visit. It was back in 2010.
Last year we visited the nearest sea side which is 1200 km away from Delhi. The location was Daman and here we had a view over the Arabian Sea. It was amazing for them to see the never-ending water level while standing with their feet in the water. Later that day we visited a water park which was another highlight of the trip.
Back in May this year I made another trip for the group. All together we were 15 kids and 9 adults. This time we went to the hill village called Shimla at the very beginning of the Himalayas. It was a 3-days trip with a lot of small experiences within the main experience of going to the hills. We did
- Drive in the bus the first day for 12 hours with no complaints from the kids – they were just happy end enjoyed themselves by dancing and singing
– Drive with the Toy Train from Shimla to Kalka
– Stayed 2 nights in a hotel which most of them never experienced before. One of the boys spent 3 hours in the bath tub which he never experienced before
– Had a lot of fantastic Indian food – besides biscuits, ice cream etc
Please have a view at the short video from the trip…
